Zero Tolerance for Drink and Drug Driving Over AFL Grand Final Weekend

Operation Scoreboard Aims to Enhance Road Safety

As the AFL Grand Final weekend approaches, Victoria Police are implementing Operation Scoreboard, enforcing a zero-tolerance policy for drink and drug driving. From September 26 to 29, police will conduct widespread testing on roads statewide.

Last year, 343 offences were detected during this operation, highlighting the need for vigilance. Tragically, 211 lives have been lost on Victorian roads this year, with impaired driving contributing to a quarter of fatalities.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead, use alternative transport, and adhere to speed limits to ensure safety. Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir emphasizes that alcohol and driving don’t mix, encouraging responsible celebrations this weekend.
