21-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Assaulting a Toddler
A 21-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly assaulting a toddler at the Park Centre in East Victoria Park, Perth. The attack occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the woman approached a mother holding her child and struck the toddler. CCTV footage showed the mother attempting to shield her child from the attacker.
The woman, later identified as Pamila-Raye Jetta, fled the scene but was arrested at Mirrabooka Shopping Centre. The toddler sustained facial injuries but was not seriously hurt. Police confirmed that Jetta was unknown to the victim’s mother. She has been charged with “aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm” and will appear in court.
Premier Roger Cook expressed his shock at the incident, wishing the mother and child well as they received support following the traumatic event.
