Fraud Charges and Court Proceedings
In October 2023, Monaro Police were alerted to an alleged fraud case involving a Queanbeyan business employee. A 42-year-old woman was arrested at Queanbeyan Police Station on 9 October 2024, following the investigation.
She faces five charges of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and three counts of stealing property as a clerk or servant, amounting to over $736,000. Police allege she embezzled this money from her employer. The woman has been granted conditional bail and is set to appear in Queanbeyan Local Court on 21 October 2024.
