Wild Weather Wreaks Havoc Across Victoria

Victoria has experienced severe weather as intense storms swept across the state, bringing heavy rain, flash flooding, strong winds, and massive hailstones. The State Emergency Service (SES) received over 130 calls within just a few hours, with Bendigo being the hardest hit.

Hailstones the size of golf balls pummeled the area, causing significant damage.

Residents Steve and Christine Gaunt described the storm as terrifying, with hailstones hitting the ground with incredible force, causing mud splashes and damaging their property.

“It was like a war zone outside,” Steve said, highlighting the chaos as their home was surrounded by overflowing spouts and a shattered skylight.

Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury reported hailstones measuring up to five to six centimeters in diameter, particularly severe in Melbourne’s western districts. In Bridgewater, attempts to protect cars from the icy barrage proved futile.

Meanwhile, White Hills lived up to its name with a field covered in hail, forcing the cancellation of an afternoon football game.

Streets in Craigeburn and Croydon were flooded, with water levels rising around cars, illustrating the storm’s widespread impact across the state.
