Ex-Scammer Sheds Light on International Crypto Fraud Targeting Australians
A former scammer from Ukraine, now speaking out to prevent more people from falling victim to scams, revealed why Australians are often easy prey for fraudsters. Inside footage of a scam centre shows an ordinary office operating a crypto scam. Vulnerable migrants are lured with job promises, then recruited into these criminal operations.
Australians are seen as “wealthy” and “trusting,” making them prime targets. In response, the Australian Federal Police have launched Operation Firestorm through the Joint Policing Cybercrime Coordination Centre (JPC3) to combat international scam syndicates in Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe.
