Massive Haul of Illegal Vapes Seized in Box Hill South Warehouse
Victoria Police made a substantial discovery Thursday morning after responding to a burglary report at a Box Hill South warehouse on Middleborough Road. Arriving around 4 a.m., officers discovered over 1,000 boxes filled with illegal nicotine vapes, valued at approximately $8 million.
Following the discovery, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) was alerted. Possessing such a large quantity of illegal vapes is a Commonwealth offence, so the TGA has taken over the investigation. The TGA, working closely with state and territory authorities, has the authority to seize unlawful vapes as necessary.
Local police, along with Taskforce Lunar and VIPER Taskforce detectives, will support the TGA in removing the illegal products.
Although no arrests have been made, investigations into the initial burglary are ongoing. Victoria Police remains committed to assisting local councils and the Department of Health in tobacco and vape law enforcement across the state.
