Armed Crime Squad Investigates After Shots Fired at Police Vehicle

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning in Portland, Victoria. Around 2 a.m., police responded to reports of reckless driving on Browning Street.

On arrival near Francis and Blair Streets, officers found two vehicles—a black Ford sedan and a red Ford sedan—parked together. When police attempted to intercept the cars, a shot was fired at their marked van. Fortunately, the bullet missed, and no officers were injured.

The two vehicles sped off, with the black Ford later found abandoned in Ecklin South and subsequently seized. Around 7 a.m., police spotted the red Ford in Portland, and three men were found nearby attempting to escape on foot.

They were promptly arrested and are currently being questioned by authorities. The investigation remains active as police work to understand the circumstances behind the incident.
