Local Police Issue Bushfire Warning as Fire Season Begins
Two teenagers have been arrested after a bushfire broke out in Port Lincoln on Sunday, November 3. Emergency services responded just before 6 pm to a scrub fire near Bernard Place and Garrett Road, which was spreading northeast. The Country Fire Service (CFS) quickly contained the blaze to about an acre, with no reported injuries or property damage.
Following an investigation, police located two local teens, ages 13 and 16, near the scene and arrested them on bushfire-related charges. Authorities emphasize a zero-tolerance stance toward fires set through reckless, negligent, or intentional acts, especially with the fire danger season underway.
They remind the public that bushfires can have devastating consequences, including loss of life and destruction of communities. If a fire is spotted, residents are urged to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
