Two Men Charged in Drug Transportation Case Under Strike Force Dewhirst

Organised Crime Squad Cracks Down on Drug Transportation

Two men have been charged as part of Strike Force Dewhirst’s investigation into drug trafficking between New South Wales and other states. The operation, led by the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad and NSW Crime Commission, focuses on individuals using Dedicated Encrypted Criminal Communication Devices (DECCDs) to move prohibited drugs and illicit proceeds.

On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, officers stopped a Fiat campervan on the Pacific Highway near Nabiac. During a search, police discovered three mobile phones, one believed to be a DECCD, and nine 1kg blocks of cocaine in vacuum-sealed bags. The two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested and charged with supplying a large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs.

Police allege that the men rented the van in Brisbane, planning to travel to Sydney, pick up the drugs, and return to Brisbane. Both were refused bail and will face Forster Local Court.

Investigations under Strike Force Dewhirst are ongoing.
