Serious Animal Cruelty Charges Following Violent Incident

Two men face charges after a violent altercation in Stannifer, NSW, involving the alleged shooting of two dogs. Around 6:20 pm on Saturday, November 3, a 41-year-old man reportedly engaged in a heated argument with another man at a property on Old Mill Road. Following the dispute, the man allegedly retrieved a shotgun, firing at two dogs, killing one and injuring the other, before fleeing the scene in a Toyota SUV.

Police from New England Police District located the suspect’s vehicle shortly after and conducted a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result. He was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including animal cruelty, firearm-related offenses, and driving under the influence. The man was denied bail and is set to appear in Parramatta Local Court.

A second man, aged 67, was also stopped by police near the scene. Officers allegedly found an unregistered firearm in his vehicle. He was charged and released on conditional bail, with a court appearance scheduled for January 2025.
