Two Drink Drivers Charged After Crashes on Grand Final Day

Reckless Driving Puts Lives at Risk in Separate Incidents

Two men face charges after separate drink-driving crashes on Grand Final Day. The first incident occurred around 4:45pm in Huonville, where a 43-year-old driver crashed into another vehicle while attempting to turn into a driveway and fled the scene. Police later arrested him with a blood alcohol reading of 0.270, over five times the legal limit.

In a second incident at 8:55pm, a 20-year-old man lost control of his car on Conlans Road, hitting a guard rail and landing in an embankment. His blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.119. Both men have been charged and will appear in Hobart Magistrates Court.

Senior Constable Adam Bertoli emphasized that such reckless driving endangers lives and will not be tolerated. Police remain vigilant in enforcing road safety laws to protect the community.
