Investigators Probe Fatal Light Aircraft Crash
A devastating plane crash on Saturday night near Tinamba West, Victoria, claimed the lives of a 20-year-old pilot and two teenagers, aged 15 and 16. The light aircraft, an amateur-built, four-seater, crashed into a paddock at around 5:45 PM, resulting in a post-impact fire that destroyed the plane.
The Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) will begin its investigation on Monday, focusing on the aircraft’s history, maintenance, and the pilot’s qualifications. Chief Commissioner Angus Mitchell emphasized the tragedy’s vast impact on the victims’ families and vowed to determine the contributing factors behind the crash.
