Emergency services responded around 12:15 pm on November 4 to a multi-vehicle collision, which included a truck and trailer, two sedans, and a ute.

Two women from Queensland, both rear passengers in a silver Ford sedan, tragically lost their lives. A 44-year-old woman died at the scene, while a 64-year-old woman passed away later in the hospital. Seven other people sustained injuries in the crash, with some in critical condition. The 43-year-old driver of the silver Ford remains in critical condition, while a 14-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries.

The truck driver, a 35-year-old man from Victor Harbor, has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including causing death and harm by dangerous driving. He is scheduled to appear in Christies Beach Magistrates Court on December 23.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers. The incident marks the 74th and 75th road fatalities in South Australia this year. Main South Road has since reopened after a thorough investigation by Major Crash officers.
