Man Fatally Struck Amid Disturbance in Bayswater
A 52-year-old man tragically died in Perth on Tuesday after being struck by a silver Holden Commodore during a chaotic series of events in Bayswater.
The incident began around 11 a.m. when the Commodore, allegedly driven erratically, collided with a Ford Ranger on Skew Road. Witnesses reported the Commodore driver wielded a machete, slashed all four tyres of the Ranger, and made violent threats.
The driver then fled the scene and later struck the pedestrian on Rose Avenue. Police and paramedics rushed the victim to Royal Perth Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. Shortly after, the Commodore crashed into traffic lights at the corner of Railway Parade, with two uninjured children in the vehicle.
The suspect, a man in his 30s, was taken into custody and is undergoing medical examination. Authorities are working to piece together a timeline of events, describing the case as complex. WA Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
