Road Closures and Delays Expected During King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Visit
Canberrans should prepare for traffic disruptions on Monday, 21 October 2024, as King Charles and Queen Camilla visit the city. ACT Policing has advised that roads around key locations, including Canberra Airport, Yarralumla, the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House, and Black Mountain, will experience closures from 11:30am to 6pm.
Specific road closures include sections of Anzac Parade, Limestone Avenue, and Fairbairn Avenue near the Australian War Memorial, which will be closed between 10am and 1:30pm. Additionally, Parliament Drive and parts of Kings Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, and Federation Mall will close from 1pm to 3pm.
Those traveling to Canberra Airport are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for possible delays. Visitors attending events at the Australian War Memorial or Parliament House can use Transport Canberra’s free shuttle services from the City Interchange.
Motorists are reminded to follow police instructions and avoid crossing verges, paths, or median strips. Traffic disruptions will be minimized, and police appreciate patience during the royal motorcade.
