Tesla’s Camera-Only Autonomy Questioned After Deer Collision Incident

Tesla’s “Full Self-Driving” System Faces Scrutiny Following Road Incident

Tesla’s unique approach to self-driving relies solely on cameras, avoiding additional sensors to keep costs lower. However, a recent incident raises questions about this decision.

Twitter user @TheSeekerOf42 shared photos and video showing his Tesla, using the “Full Self-Driving” software, failing to slow down or avoid a deer on the road. The footage reveals the car approaching the animal without reacting, resulting in a collision that damaged the front bumper and shifted the hood nearly an inch towards the windshield.

This incident has sparked further debate over Tesla’s reliance on camera-only autonomy and whether it adequately ensures road safety.
