RTBU Strike Set to Halt Sydney’s Rail Services
Sydney’s rail network is set to shut down from Thursday to Sunday due to industrial action by the Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU), as reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
The union demanded a 24-hour service on all lines during this period but rejected the NSW government’s alternative proposal of running trains between Hornsby and Strathfield.
Transport Minister Jo Haylen confirmed the union’s decision following a meeting on Tuesday. The shutdown is expected to disrupt thousands of commuters, emphasizing the need for resolution between the union and the government.
