Trick-or-Treating Tips for a Fun and Safe Halloween
With Halloween just around the corner, South Australia Police (SAPOL) is sharing safety tips to ensure everyone has a great time. SAPOL encourages residents to use downloadable posters to indicate whether they welcome trick-or-treaters. Homes that are open to visitors can display a “Trick-or-Treaters Welcome” sign, while those who prefer not to participate can use a “No Trick-or-Treaters Here” notice.
To keep Halloween fun and safe, SAPOL advises children to travel in small groups and be accompanied by a trusted adult. Costumes should be bright, reflective, and avoid masks that limit vision. Adding glow-in-the-dark or reflective tape enhances visibility. Road safety is crucial, with a reminder to follow traffic rules and use designated crossings.
SAPOL also emphasizes safety with treats: only accept wrapped goodies, preferably from familiar households. Adults should be cautious and avoid drinking while supervising children. For drivers, SAPOL recommends reducing speed in residential areas and staying alert for unpredictable movements.
By following these guidelines, Halloween can be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
