Stabbing and Shooting Incident in Wagga Wagga Leaves Man Hospitalized

Police Investigate Violent Public Altercation in Wagga Wagga

A violent incident involving a stabbing and shooting occurred in North Wagga Wagga, leaving one man under police guard in the hospital. On Thursday, October 10, 2024, Riverina Police were called to Wilks Park following reports of a shooting. A 42-year-old man was allegedly stabbed with scissors by a 33-year-old man before the 33-year-old was shot by a third individual who fled the scene.

The 42-year-old later presented himself at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital with a neck wound and has since been released. The 33-year-old attempted to evade police by swimming to an island and climbing a tree but was arrested after a police operation. He remains in stable condition under police guard. Police are continuing to search for the third man involved and have located a firearm believed to be used in the incident.
