Search Continues for Child Swept Into Ocean at The Entrance

Authorities and Community Join Efforts in Extensive Land, Air, and Sea Search

A search operation is underway for an 11-year-old child who was swept into the ocean at The Entrance, New South Wales, on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Around 5:15 pm, emergency services were alerted after the boy was reported missing while attempting to cross The Entrance Channel with his father and three younger siblings. As the family crossed from the North Entrance side, the strong current pulled the eldest child into open waters.

Bystanders tended to the other three children as the father attempted to rescue his son but was unable to reach him. Local police, Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving, and both the Toll and Westpac Rescue Helicopters conducted an extensive search by land, air, and sea. The search was suspended at nightfall and resumed early this morning, Monday, November 4, with multiple agencies assisting.

Authorities urge anyone with information on the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 as the search continues.
