Strike Force Viper Investigates Dangerous Vehicle Theft and Assault on Officer
Northern Territory Police are investigating a vehicle theft and dangerous driving incident in Alice Springs on the night of 27 September 2024. Offenders allegedly stole a grey Toyota Corolla after unlawfully entering a residence in East Side around 10:10 pm. The stolen vehicle was later seen driving erratically through the CBD, forcing police to call off a pursuit due to safety concerns.
At around 2 am, the offenders targeted a police vehicle on Railway Terrace, throwing a rock through the windscreen, injuring an officer with glass debris. The officer was treated at Alice Springs Hospital and has since been released. The vehicle continued to evade police and remains at large.
Strike Force Viper is leading the investigation. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them on 131 444 and quote reference P24267308, or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
