Charges Laid Following Violent Incident in Sydney’s West
A police officer was stabbed during a brawl response in Doonside, Sydney, early Friday morning. Authorities were called to Hill End Road at around 12:30 am after reports of five men fighting. On arrival, four men fled in a hatchback, while a fifth walked away.
When officers approached the 20-year-old man, he allegedly stabbed one officer in the chest with a long knife during the arrest attempt. The injured officer, 34, was treated by paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital in stable condition.
The 20-year-old suspect now faces multiple charges, including wounding a police officer and possession of a knife in a public place. Meanwhile, police pursued the fleeing hatchback, which struck a pole. Two men, aged 18 and 21, were arrested after the crash. The 18-year-old has been charged with knife possession, intimidation, and affray.
Police are continuing their search for the two remaining individuals involved.
