Police Arrest Three Boys in Alleged Aggravated Carjacking in Altona Meadows

Alleged Carjacking in Altona Meadows Ends in Arrests

Early this morning, police charged three boys in connection with an alleged aggravated carjacking in Altona Meadows. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Central Avenue. It is reported that three offenders approached a 51-year-old man in a car park. Despite the man’s efforts to seek refuge in his silver Toyota Rav4, he was unable to lock the doors in time.

According to police, one offender entered the vehicle’s front seat, wielding a hammer, while another offender entered the back, demanding the victim’s phone, car keys, and cash. The first offender allegedly struck the victim with a hammer, but fortunately, the man did not sustain any physical injuries. The victim managed to escape the car, and the offenders fled the scene in the stolen Toyota.

The vehicle was later spotted after allegedly crashing into a fence on Honeysuckle Court. The offenders abandoned the car and fled on foot. Swift action from Altona and Williamstown police officers led to the arrest of three boys shortly after the crash. Police recovered a hammer and two edged weapons from the Toyota.

The boys, aged 14 and 15, have been charged with aggravated carjacking, attempted armed robbery, and traffic offenses. They were bailed to appear in children’s court at a later date.
