Police Crack Down on Reckless Driving by Young P-Platers
Police have charged two young male drivers with reckless speeding after separate incidents in Perth. On October 30, an 18-year-old P-Plater was caught by the Police Air Wing driving a blue Subaru Impreza at an alleged speed of 200 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the Mitchell Freeway near Osborne Park.
Ground units assisted in stopping the vehicle near Reid Highway, resulting in the driver’s arrest. His vehicle has since been impounded, and he faces a charge of reckless driving. He is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on December 12.
In a similar incident, a 17-year-old was charged on October 29 for driving 94 km/h over the limit on Tonkin Highway near Perth Airport. This driver is also set to appear in court.
Both cases highlight the risks and serious legal consequences of reckless driving, especially for young P-Platers.
