One in Four Workers Missing Out on Superannuation Payments

Billions Lost in Unpaid Super

A recent analysis reveals that nearly three million Australian workers missed out on $5.1 billion in superannuation payments in 2021-22. The average shortfall was $1,800 per worker, impacting mostly women, younger people, and those in lower-paid jobs. 

Many older Australians also face financial insecurity due to depleted retirement savings. The superannuation industry urges the federal government to speed up implementing payday superannuation changes, set for July 2026, which will require employers to pay super with wages. 

There are also calls to extend the Fair Entitlement Guarantee to include superannuation when businesses go bust. Read More ABC
