High Pay Keeps Nvidia Employees Despite Grueling Hours
At Nvidia, employees often work seven days a week and sometimes until 2am, yet many stay with the company. This is largely due to Nvidia’s generous compensation packages, which include substantial stock grants.
Workers at Nvidia describe a high-pressure environment where meetings can become intense and frequent. A former marketing employee revealed attending up to 10 meetings a day, often with heated arguments.

Despite these challenges, employees are reluctant to leave due to the significant financial rewards they receive.
Nvidia, based in Santa Clara, California, is a leading maker of semiconductors for artificial intelligence. Since 2019, Nvidia’s stock has surged by 3,776%, creating substantial wealth for long-term employees.
Stock grants vest over a four-year period, providing a powerful incentive to remain with the company.
Employee turnover at Nvidia is notably lower than the semiconductor industry average. While 5.3% of employees left last year, the rate fell to 2.7% after Nvidia’s market capitalization exceeded $1 trillion.
Even those who could retire are choosing to stay, anticipating even greater rewards from future stock grants.
