New South Wales has introduced a groundbreaking platform, BluLink, allowing the public to live stream emergency situations directly to triple-0 dispatchers. This innovative technology, launching statewide today, aims to improve the accuracy and efficiency of emergency responses by giving police and dispatchers a real-time view of incidents as they unfold.
BluLink works by sending a link to the caller’s smartphone during a triple-0 call. This link enables live streaming, GPS location sharing, digital media uploads, and text communication, which can be translated into 150 different languages.
The platform’s capabilities were tested in a 12-month trial across 20 police commands, where it assisted in resolving over 700 incidents, including locating more than 100 high-risk missing persons.
NSW Minister for Police and Counterterrorism, Yasmin Catley, highlighted BluLink’s potential to strengthen police response by providing immediate visual access to scenes before officers arrive.
Assistant Commissioner Stacey Maloney noted that the platform will save time and resources, benefiting both front-line and specialist police areas.
