NSW and Queensland Police Seize Millions in Drugs and Cash After Joint Investigation

Major Drug Syndicate Busted in Joint Operation

In a significant victory against drug trafficking, police from NSW and Queensland seized millions of dollars’ worth of cocaine, MDMA, and cash following a joint investigation under Strike Force Oshawa. The investigation, initiated in August 2024, targeted a criminal syndicate responsible for trafficking prohibited drugs across eastern Australia.

On October 10, 2024, officers intercepted a Gold Coast drug delivery, confiscating 25kg of cocaine and 5kg of MDMA, with a combined street value of $9.2 million. Further investigations led police to conduct multiple search warrants at properties in Caringbah, NSW, and Rocklea, Queensland. The raids uncovered over $3 million in cash, a Glock pistol, 1kg of MDMA, luxury watches, and additional prohibited drugs.

Three men were arrested during the operation: two, aged 26 and 53, in NSW, and another 26-year-old in Queensland. Charges for the NSW men include supplying large commercial quantities of drugs, dealing with proceeds of crime, and participating in criminal activity. Both were denied bail and appeared in Sutherland Local Court on October 11, 2024. The Queensland man faces charges related to dealing in proceeds of crime and unlawful possession of weapons. He was also refused bail and appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on the same day.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to dismantle the syndicate. This operation highlights the importance of interstate collaboration in tackling organized crime and drug trafficking.
