Mandatory SATUSEHAT Health Pass to Combat Mpox
Australians planning a trip to Indonesia, including popular tourist destination Bali, must now adhere to a new health protocol aimed at curbing the spread of Mpox. Effective immediately, travelers are required to complete an electronic self-declaration form known as the SATUSEHAT Health Pass before boarding their flight.
The SATUSEHAT Health Pass mandates that travelers declare their health conditions and travel history online. Upon arrival in Indonesia, authorities will scan a barcode provided by the pass to review the traveler’s health and travel details. Those showing symptoms of Mpox may be directed to a hospital for treatment.

This new measure is part of a broader strategy to address the spread of Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, which has recently gained attention due to its evolving strain.
Scientists have noted that the virus, especially the newly identified clade Ib, is changing more rapidly than anticipated. This poses challenges for tracking and managing the disease, which typically causes flu-like symptoms and skin lesions.
In response to the global health emergency declared by the World Health Organization in 2022, health authorities in Australia are also urging vigilance and vaccination, particularly for those at higher risk.
