Coordinated Action Disrupts OMCG Activities and Enhances Community Safety
A national joint operation led by Task Force Morpheus has resulted in the arrest of 33 individuals and the disruption of criminal activities linked to the Comancheros Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG). The operation, conducted on November 28, involved collaboration between Australian and New Zealand police, government agencies, and other partners.
Specialist officers executed 33 search warrants, uncovering firearms, ammunition, cash, drugs such as methylamphetamine and cocaine, as well as illicit tobacco and vapes worth over $1.5 million. The operation led to 78 charges, including extortion, drug trafficking, and other serious offences.
Task Force Morpheus, active for over a decade, focuses on dismantling OMCGs by sharing intelligence and employing coordinated strategies. Detective Superintendent Jason Kelly emphasized the group’s relentless efforts to disrupt OMCG operations, highlighting their secrecy, violence, and profit-driven motives as major threats to community safety.
Queensland Police Detective Superintendent Troy Pukallus noted that OMCGs perpetuate fear through violent acts, organized criminal enterprises, and recruitment. He stressed the importance of collaborative and proactive policing approaches to combat their influence.
The operation underscores the critical role of national and international partnerships in targeting criminal networks, enhancing community safety, and promoting awareness about OMCG activities.
