A Concerning Rise in Motorcycle Fatalities
Police are prioritizing motorcycle safety after a sharp rise in motorcyclist fatalities in 2024. With 52 deaths so far this year, the number is nearly equal to the total 53 fatalities recorded in 2023. A majority of these deaths occurred in multi-vehicle collisions, often caused by failure to give way or excessive speeding.
Police are launching more safety operations, coinciding with Motorcycle Awareness Month. Enforcement will target high-risk areas, urging motorcyclists to slow down and motorists to be more vigilant. Riders are reminded to wear protective gear and stay cautious as fatalities often spike during the warmer months.
