Two Australian Teens in Critical Condition After Vang Vieng Incident
Two 19-year-old Melbourne women are fighting for their lives in Thai hospitals after consuming tainted cocktails in Vang Vieng, Laos. The women, staying at a backpackers hostel, fell ill after drinking at a local bar on November 12. They were rushed to Vang Vieng Hospital early the next morning, where doctors noted symptoms of dizziness, chest tightness, and breathing difficulties.
One woman suffered a seizure and slipped into a coma before being intubated and transferred to Setthatirat Hospital in Vientiane. Medical staff are working to stabilize both women as their conditions remain critical.
Authorities and hostel staff are urging tourists to exercise caution when consuming local beverages.
