Geelong Altercation Leads to Fatal Stabbing, Man Charged with Murder
Homicide detectives have charged a 26-year-old Colac man with murder following a deadly altercation on Little Malop Street in Geelong. The incident occurred around 5:30 am, where a 20-year-old Corio man was reportedly stabbed during a confrontation. Emergency services transported the young man to a hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
Later, the accused voluntarily presented himself at a police station, where he was detained, interviewed, and subsequently charged with one count of murder. He is scheduled to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
Two other men, also from Colac and aged 23 and 26, went to a hospital on their own with non-life-threatening injuries. The authorities have yet to interview them, but they are expected to provide additional details regarding the tragic incident.
This tragic event underscores ongoing community concerns over violent altercations in the area.
