Police Arrest Suspect Following Extensive Fraud Investigation in Brisbane
A 38-year-old man faces 41 charges after allegedly orchestrating a large-scale EFTPOS scam targeting medical businesses around Brisbane. Between October 1 and November 2, the suspect reportedly broke into multiple locations, primarily in Brisbane’s south, and stole EFTPOS machines.
Using these devices, he allegedly conducted over $670,000 in fraudulent reimbursement transactions. On November 6, Mount Gravatt Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a stolen motorbike in Wishart, driven recklessly by the man.
He was later apprehended at a fuel station and charged with various crimes, including breaking and entering, fraud, possession of dangerous drugs, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. The man has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 7.
