Man Charged for Vandalising Australian War Memorial and ABC Canberra Building

Alleged Vandal Faces Court Over Damage to National Landmarks

A 20-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts of property damage after allegedly vandalising the Australian War Memorial and the ABC Canberra building. Police claim the man spray-painted slogans on the ABC building on four occasions in February and March, and later defaced the War Memorial in June.

CCTV footage of the incidents led to an investigation, resulting in the man’s arrest after he voluntarily attended Gungahlin Police Station. The man will face five charges in the ACT Magistrates Court.
