Explosive Devices Discovered During Vehicle Search
A 33-year-old man has been charged after police discovered homemade pipe bombs in his car in Hay, Riverina region. On Monday, September 30, 2024, police stopped the vehicle on Sturt Highway for random breath testing. During the search, officers allegedly found cannabis, methylamphetamine, a large knife, and two homemade pipe bombs.
The Bomb Disposal Unit was called in to dismantle the explosives, leading to a temporary closure of the highway. The man was charged with possessing explosives, prohibited drugs, and carrying a knife in public. He was refused bail and is set to appear before Griffith Local Court.
