Man Charged After Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian in Penrith

Tragic Accident Leads to Charges After Pedestrian Death in Penrith

A man has been charged following a fatal crash in Penrith, where an 87-year-old man on a mobility scooter was struck by a car that allegedly failed to stop. The incident occurred around 12:45pm on 27 September 2024 at the intersection of Mulgoa Road and Ransley Street. Despite efforts by paramedics, the elderly man tragically died at the scene.

Following an extensive search, police arrested a 48-year-old man at a nearby shopping centre. He has been charged with several offenses, including dangerous driving occasioning death, failing to stop and assist, and negligent driving. The man is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court after being refused bail. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

This tragic event highlights the importance of road safety and accountability for those involved in fatal crashes.
