Queen Victoria Building Statue Damaged, Suspect Arrested
A man has been charged after allegedly damaging a statue in Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building. Police were called to the scene early on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, following reports of vandalism.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command launched an investigation, and by 10pm that evening, with the assistance of the Public Order & Riot Squad, a search warrant was executed at a home in Strathfield. Paint bottles were found at the residence, leading to the arrest of a 26-year-old man.
The suspect was charged with destroying or damaging property and disguising his face with intent to commit an indictable offense. He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Burwood Local Court on November 12, 2024.
