Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Melbourne’s Southeast

Police Capture Suspect in Allegedly Stolen Jeep During Operation Trinity

A 28-year-old man was arrested on 8 October following a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee in Melbourne’s southeast. Police, conducting Operation Trinity, spotted the Jeep speeding at over 100km/h in a 40km/h zone on the Monash Freeway. Stop sticks were deployed across several locations, bringing the chase to an end on the Princes Highway in Pakenham. The Jeep was reportedly stolen on 5 October from Fawkner. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Operation Trinity, launched in March 2023, targets burglars and car thieves with over 70 police officers patrolling nightly. This effort has led to the arrest of 673 offenders, and over 7,350 individuals have been processed for other crimes. Police urge residents to lock their homes and cars to reduce the risk of burglary, as 80% of aggravated burglaries occur through unlocked doors and windows.
