Operation Foil and Pivot: NSW Police Crack Down on Knife Crime
A major police operation across NSW, Operation Foil, led to the arrest of numerous individuals and the seizure of weapons, including 45 knives, 12 firearms, and prohibited drugs. Running from September 26 to 28, 2024, over 500 officers from various commands targeted knife crime and anti-social behavior, resulting in 355 charges, 42 arrests on outstanding warrants, and 155 drug detections.
Operation Pivot, running from September 23 to 25, 2024, focused on engaging youth, visiting 77 schools, and delivering anti-violence presentations. The joint operations aim to reduce weapons on the streets and educate young people on the consequences of violent behavior.
Incidents of note included the arrest of individuals for drug and firearm offenses, assaults on police officers, and knife-related crimes involving youth. Police emphasized the importance of ongoing operations to ensure community safety.
