Major Firearm and Drug Bust in Nowra: Two Men Charged

Raptor Squad Uncovers Illegal Arms and Drug Supply

In a significant operation on 24 October 2024, Raptor Squad officers charged two men and seized 13 firearms as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged firearm and drug supply in Nowra, known as Strike Force Biarritz. Established by the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad, this task force focuses on drug and firearm-related crimes in the South Coast region.

The operation commenced early in the morning when officers executed search warrants at two properties on Oxford Street and Plunkett Street in South Nowra. During these searches, authorities discovered a cache of illegal items, including 13 firearms, a 3D printer, and 3D-printed firearm parts. Additionally, police seized approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition, $64,700 in cash, and 2.3 kilograms of cannabis. Officers also recovered a buggy and two motocross bikes believed to be stolen.

The arrested men, aged 29 and 25, were taken to Nowra Police Station. The older man faces 23 charges, while the younger man is charged with 24 offenses, including 12 counts of possessing unregistered firearms. Both were denied bail and are set to appear in Nowra Local Court. Police allege that two of the seized firearms were stolen from a Lithgow museum last month and had been made operational using privately manufactured parts.
