Drug Bust Uncovers $26 Million Cannabis Haul in Regional Victoria

Victoria Police Seize Over 6000 Cannabis Plants in Rural Operation

Victoria’s Major Drug Squad has seized one of the largest cannabis hauls in recent years, with officers uncovering more than 6,500 plants at a rural property in Leongatha South. Acting on a search warrant, officers found a sophisticated hydroponic setup within multiple commercial-sized hot houses on the property. The seized plants, ranging from seedlings to mature plants, weighed an estimated 1.7 tonnes with a street value of over $26 million.

Police arrested five individuals, all Vietnamese nationals aged between 25 and 54, at the scene. The suspects have been charged with cultivating and trafficking a commercial quantity of cannabis and are set to appear in Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court in March 2025. This significant seizure highlights ongoing efforts to combat large-scale drug operations across regional Victoria.
