Operation Targets Gun Trafficking and Drug Supply
A 36-year-old man has been charged with multiple offenses following a police investigation that led to the seizure of 21 3D-printed firearms, methylamphetamine, and cash in Perth’s northern suburbs. The investigation, initiated by detectives from the Border Operations Squad in September 2024, focused on firearms trafficking and the illicit drug trade.
On 15 October, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Duncraig, where they arrested the man. During the search, officers reportedly found over two kilograms of methylamphetamine, $72,500 in cash, and 14 operational 3D-printed firearms. In addition, three 3D printers, firearm parts, and ammunition were discovered at the scene.
A follow-up search on 17 October at a bushland area in Bullsbrook uncovered an additional seven buried 3D-printed firearms. The man faces a total of 21 charges, including possessing firearms with aggravating circumstances, unlawfully possessing controlled drugs, and manufacturing firearms without a license. He is scheduled to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on 11 November 2024.
Detective Superintendent John Hutchison from the Serious and Organised Crime Division stated that the suspect is believed to be a key player in an organized criminal network operating in Perth. He emphasized the importance of targeting the movement of illicit drugs, cash, and firearms across state borders.
The police are continuing their investigation, expecting to uncover additional individuals involved in this criminal network. The removal of these illegal firearms significantly contributes to community safety, as they pose serious risks to both citizens and law enforcement.
