Scammers Exploit Gina Rinehart’s Image for New Fraud
A new scam is making the rounds, using a deepfake video of Gina Rinehart alongside the Sky News logo to trick Australians into a fraudulent investment scheme. This deceptive video claims that Rinehart has launched a finance project that allows people to earn steady passive income and never work again—a classic scam tactic designed to lure in unsuspecting victims.
The False Promises of This Scam
The video repeatedly warns about other scammers, using reverse psychology to build trust. It claims that Rinehart’s so-called platform was created to strengthen the Australian economy, promising earnings of $2,300 per day or $70,000 per month. To join, victims must invest $400, with scammers assuring them they can “withdraw at any time” thanks to a unique algorithm—a blatant lie.
Adding urgency, the scam claims that only three days remain to sign up and boasts about having 4,000 participants already. This is nothing more than a bait-and-switch tactic.
How This Scam Works
Once a victim signs up, they are asked to provide private information, and a so-called “manager” reaches out. Instead of helping, this individual steals personal and financial data, leaving victims with empty bank accounts.
