Police Apprehend Four Men Following Firearm Theft and Vehicle Break-Ins
Four men have been charged after allegedly stealing a police-issued firearm and ammunition during a series of vehicle break-ins at a Townsville apartment complex on November 24.
The incident occurred around 3:10 am when the men arrived at the Wills Street complex in a silver Holden Commodore with false plates. They allegedly accessed the secure parking bay, breaking into five vehicles, including an unmarked police car. The group also stole a black BMW and fled in both vehicles.
Following investigations and search warrants executed across Townsville, authorities apprehended the suspects.
Charges include:
- A 40-year-old Burdell man, facing multiple counts of vehicle break-ins, unlawful firearm possession, and drug-related offenses.
- A 24-year-old Burdell man, charged with several vehicle break-ins, firearm possession, and theft-related offenses.
- A 25-year-old Mount Louisa man, accused of vehicle break-ins, firearm possession, and motor vehicle theft.
- An 18-year-old Vincent man, linked to an armed robbery and charged with various offenses, including unlawful firearm possession and vehicle break-ins.
All four men are set to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on November 26.
