Queensland Police Charge Five in Major Methylamphetamine Bust
Detectives from Queensland’s Drug and Serious Crime Group, in collaboration with Australian Border Force, have arrested five individuals following the discovery of a large-scale clandestine drug lab in Park Ridge on October 22, 2024. During the operation, police uncovered approximately two kilograms of crystallized methylamphetamine (ice), five liters of methylamphetamine oil, firearms, and a significant amount of cash.
The lab, capable of producing multiple kilogram batches of methylamphetamine, is alleged to have been part of a coordinated drug production and distribution network operating across Queensland and interstate. A second search warrant at a Rocklea business also uncovered cash, a cash counting machine, and ammunition.
Among those arrested were a 31-year-old Park Ridge man and woman, a 32-year-old South Ripley man, a 42-year-old Doolandella man, and a 32-year-old Inala man. They face multiple charges, including producing and possessing dangerous drugs, possession of weapons, and property suspected of being connected to drug offenses. The accused are expected to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
Detective Inspector Bradley Phelps emphasized the importance of dismantling such operations due to the immense harm these drugs inflict on communities. Investigations into the syndicate are ongoing.
