Evacuation Orders Issued as Firefighters Battle Blaze Near Perth

Firefighters are tackling an emergency-level fire in the Shire of Dandaragan, about 163 kilometers north of Perth. The blaze, first reported on Monday, has prompted evacuation orders for residents of Wedge Island, Cooljarloo, and Nambung. The affected area now extends inland to Indian Ocean Drive and north to Bibby Road, including Nambung National Park.

An evacuation center has been established at the Jurien Bay Sport and Recreation Centre. Aerial firefighting assistance has been deployed to combat the fire.

Residents near Bibby Road, Munbinea Road, Cantabilling Road, and west of Brand Highway have been issued a Watch and Act warning, urging evacuation for those unprepared. An Advice alert remains in effect for areas near Hill River Nature Reserve, Munbinea Road, and parts of Jurien Bay, Nambung, and Cervantes.

Authorities are urging residents to follow evacuation instructions and stay informed through updates from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).
