A Four-Year-Old Girl Bitten by a Dingo at K’gari
A four-year-old girl was bitten by a dingo on Fraser Island (K’gari) while part of a large family fishing group on Saturday. The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. near NgKala Rocks on the island’s eastern side.
According to Department of Environment rangers, the dingo approached the girl and bit her around the chest, causing cuts, bruising, and a puncture wound.
A nearby doctor provided initial care, and the family was advised to seek assistance from Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics. The girl was treated at the scene and then flown to Hervey Bay Hospital as a precaution.

This incident marks the sixteenth high-risk dingo interaction reported on Fraser Island this year.
Rangers are actively monitoring the male dingo involved and conducting investigations.Â
They will increase patrols in the NgKala Rocks area and reinforce dingo safety messages for fishers and campers.
Key advice includes keeping children close and moving dingoes away from people, especially children, to prevent further incidents.
