Teens Engage in Risky Behavior on Sydney Trains
A concerning social media trend, known as “ridgy popping,” is putting teenagers in grave danger on Sydney trains. This trend involves teens accessing the crew compartments of old K-set trains and filming themselves hanging from the back of the moving trains.
The trend is particularly prevalent on the T8 Macarthur Line, where the outdated trains are still in service.
Videos of these dangerous stunts have surfaced on TikTok, showing young teens risking their lives. A recent incident left a teenage boy with serious injuries, highlighting the life-threatening consequences of this reckless behavior.
Despite efforts by Transport for NSW to reinforce carriage doors, the problem persists, exposing a serious safety flaw in the old train models.
Authorities are struggling to monitor the situation due to limited staff, leaving them concerned about potential fatalities if the trend continues. Local officials and commuters are calling for immediate action to prevent further incidents and protect the safety of Sydney’s youth.
