Joint Forces Seize Large Quantities of Methamphetamine in Major Operation
In a coordinated effort by Australia’s Organised Crime Squad and the Australian Border Force (ABF), a dual US and Mexican national was arrested in Liverpool, Sydney, for alleged involvement in drug manufacturing and supply. The investigation, part of Strike Force Mactier, started after ABF identified the suspect as a non-legitimate traveler potentially connected to criminal activity.
During a search at the suspect’s property, authorities discovered equipment and substances used for methamphetamine production, including a large drink cooler containing brown liquid with crystal shards, acetone, and other items consistent with a drug lab setup. Police seized 1.1 kg of solid methamphetamine, 860 grams of liquid methamphetamine, and 4.4 kg of a cutting agent, Dimethyl sulfone.

The 23-year-old suspect was subsequently charged with manufacturing and supplying commercial quantities of prohibited drugs. Commander Peter Faux emphasized the importance of cross-agency cooperation in curbing illegal drug operations in Australia.
ABF Superintendent Geoff Quinn echoed the significance of intelligence sharing to combat organized crime both within and outside Australian borders. The suspect remains in custody and appeared in court on October 29, 2024.
